Sun Peak Design + Remodel // Park City, Utah
This 3,800-square-foot mountain retreat in the Sun Peak neighborhood was thoughtfully reimagined by Blackdog Builders for a Texas-based family transitioning their vacation home into their future full-time residence. Originally steeped in dated 1990s styling—complete with a sunken living room, log columns, and beige-on-beige interiors—the home underwent a comprehensive renovation aimed at lightening, modernizing, and opening up the space while honoring its mountain setting.
Design Highlights
Working closely with the homeowners, our in-house designer Amanda Evans transformed the dark, traditional interiors into a fresh and timeless palette of white, natural wood, and rich contrast. Key structural changes included replacing four bulky log posts with sleek steel supports, raising the living room floor, and centering a custom steel-framed fireplace for better flow and functionality. The palette of Benjamin Moore’s “Simply White,” greige accents, and dark steel detailing created contrast and character, allowing natural light to flow more freely and outdoor views to shine.
Kitchen Overhaul
A major kitchen overhaul included high-end appliances, a large island, and stacked vertical tile that wraps the custom hood—blending function with artistry. Throughout the home, carefully curated finishes—white oak flooring, mixed metal hardware, bold light fixtures, and thoughtfully layered textures—add a modern edge without losing the warmth of a family home.
Blackdog Elevated.
Now drenched in light and elevated in design, this home welcomes both guests and everyday living with comfort, personality, and connection to its mountain surroundings.
