Hip Homestead // Custom Home Build // Park City, Utah
Perched in the scenic foothills near Park City, Hip Homestead is a custom-built residence that seamlessly blends the rugged charm of a classic Western homestead with the clean lines and comfort of modern design. Designed by architect Montgomery Still and brought to life by the team at Blackdog Builders, this home reflects a passion for craftsmanship, timeless materials, and thoughtful living.
Design Highlights
Built for a vibrant family of seven—including five teenagers—this 9,000-square-foot home was thoughtfully designed to balance shared spaces with privacy and function. The boys were given their own domain on the lower level, while the girls enjoyed a dedicated suite on the main floor. A large, private home office was also added for the homeowner to run his company comfortably from home.

Exterior
From the exterior, the home makes an immediate impression with its combination of weathered wood, natural stone, and exposed steel—each element carefully aged to create the look of a historic structure, while offering the durability of new construction.
Whether hosting a large family or enjoying quiet evenings by the fire, Hip Homestead is a thoughtful balance of heritage design and modern convenience—proof that style, function, and history can live beautifully under one roof.
Every Space Tells a Story
Inside, the home offers a refined yet welcoming atmosphere. Reclaimed wood beams, hand-forged details, and a hand-built stone fireplace set the tone for cozy sophistication. Modern furnishings, custom lighting, and carefully selected art pieces add layers of comfort and style throughout.
Every space in the home tells a story—from the serene master suite and spa-like bathrooms to the warm, light-filled kitchen and vibrant lower-level lounge. Neutral tones, organic textures, and high-quality finishes unify the interior while creating distinct spaces for gathering, relaxing, and entertaining.
