We’re honored to be featured in Mountain Express Magazine, which spotlighted one of our recent restorations—a historic Park City home reimagined for modern mountain living. The article walks through how we took a timeworn accessory dwelling unit and transformed it into a warm, functional space that respects its original character while offering all the comforts of contemporary design. From the log-clad exterior to the handpicked finishes inside, every detail reflects our commitment to craftsmanship and thoughtful renovation.
This project is a great example of what we do best: blending old and new in ways that feel both natural and elevated. We reinforced aging structures, added radiant-heated floors, reoriented spaces to better capture views, and tucked in features like a hidden play nook to create moments of delight. Materials were carefully chosen—reclaimed wood, local stone, knotty alder—to layer in richness and reflect the mountain surroundings. The end result is a space that lives bigger than its footprint and feels like it’s always belonged.
We’re especially excited about this feature because it shares the heart of our approach with an audience who values quality, design, and a strong sense of place. At BlackDog Builders, we’re not just building homes—we’re telling stories through architecture, making the most of what’s already there and enhancing it with the kind of design that stands the test of time. This project gave us the opportunity to honor Park City’s past while designing for how people live today.
Being included in Mountain Express Magazine is a proud moment for our team. It validates the care, creativity, and collaboration we bring to each project—and introduces our work to readers who appreciate the balance of heritage and innovation. We’re grateful for the recognition and excited to continue building beautiful, lasting spaces in the mountains we call home.
